Core Workflow
Amazon allows dropshipping only if you meet every rule in its official policy: Amazon dropshipping policy. The essentials are simple:
- You must show yourself—not the supplier—as the seller of record on packing slips and invoices.
- All third-party branding or marketing inserts must be removed before shipment.
- Tracking details must be uploaded on time so Amazon sees a valid carrier scan.
- Returns flow back to you, and you handle refunds inside Seller Central.
Common Pitfalls
Inventory mismatch. Suppliers run out of stock and you receive an order you cannot fill. The result is a cancelled order that hurts your Order Defect Rate.
Slow dispatch. A one-day delay in tracking upload can trigger late-shipment metrics. Consistently late uploads cost the Buy Box and raise the risk of account suspension.
Unbranded packaging. If a customer gets a box with another store’s logo, Amazon will flag you for violating the dropshipping policy.
