Verdict: In Keepa vs camelcamelcamel, camelcamelcamel is the simpler free tracker: a price chart plus an email when the price drops, funded by affiliate tags and ads according to its developer. Keepa’s charts and price alerts are free too, and Keepa Pro, at 29 euros a month per Keepa’s support FAQ, adds the sales rank, offer, Buy Box and stock history that resellers use.

Best for: camelcamelcamel for shoppers in the US, Canada, Europe or Australia who want one clean chart; Keepa for shoppers in Japan, India, Mexico or Brazil and for anyone sourcing products to resell. Look elsewhere if: you sell on Amazon and need alerts about your own listings, such as a new seller or a lost Buy Box.

This comparison is for shoppers, resellers and sellers choosing between the two best-known Amazon price history trackers. We read Keepa’s support FAQ, subscription panel and API pages, both tools’ Chrome Web Store and Firefox listings, and camelcamelcamel’s privacy policy on November 4, 2026. camelcamelcamel.com blocks automated browsers, so where its own site is the only source, we say so instead of guessing.

Disclosure: SellerSonar publishes this comparison. We are not a shopper price tracker, but we compete with Keepa for sellers’ monitoring budgets, so we say where each tool is the better choice and link every fact to the vendor’s own pages.

Who each tool is for

camelcamelcamel is a shopper’s tool. Its Chrome extension, The Camelizer, does two things: it shows a product’s price history and it emails you when the price drops below a number you choose.

Keepa serves shoppers and sellers from the same product. The free part is a price chart and price watch, much like camelcamelcamel’s, while the paid part is a research data set: Keepa’s subscription page pitches Pro at people who want to “track sales rank, follow competitors’ stock levels and find profitable products.”

So the real question is whether you only buy on Amazon, or also buy to resell.

Price: free vs 29 euros a month

camelcamelcamel costs nothing. The Camelizer’s Firefox page carries a developer note that the extension has no affiliate tags or ads, but “camelcamelcamel is supported by these, however, and allows us to provide our free service.”

Keepa’s charts and price watches are free as well, and “registration is of course completely free,” according to Keepa’s support FAQ. Keepa Pro costs €290 a year (“12 months for the price of 10”) or €29 a month, billed only in euros, and Keepa offers “no free trials, coupons, or promotional discounts.”

At the ECB reference rate for November 3, 2026 (1.1179 dollars per euro), €29 is about $32.42 a month. Several AI answers and older guides still quote €19, the price Keepa announced for May 1, 2021 on its news page.

What Pro adds, per Keepa’s subscription page: Sales Rank, Offer Count and Rating/Review graphs, Buy Box statistics, current and historical stock levels for all offers, Product Finder, Seller Lookup, CSV and Excel export, and tracking for up to 10,000 products. Our Keepa pricing guide covers the API plans.

Price history: depth and what the chart shows

On depth, Keepa states it plainly. Its API pricing page says “Price history goes back to 2011. Sales-rank, offer and stock histories start later.”

Keepa also splits the price into more lines. Its store screenshot shows separate lines for Amazon, New, New 3rd Party FBA and FBM, Lightning Deals, Used plus four used conditions, Warehouse Deals, Collectible and List Price, plus a table comparing the same product across Amazon locales.

camelcamelcamel charts three price types: Amazon, Third Party New and Third Party Used, each with its lowest and highest price and the date it happened. Range buttons run from 1 Month to “All Time”.

That screenshot is an older capture, and we could not confirm on camelcamelcamel.com how far back its history goes. Some guides that rank for this comparison claim Keepa’s free chart only shows three months; Keepa’s 2019 news post says only some graph types moved to subscribers and “All other price histories remain fully accessible for free.”

One change matters to book buyers. Per Keepa’s FAQ, “For eBooks and digital products, live price and offer tracking ended on April 20, 2026,” while historical data stays visible; the change does not cover print books.

Alerts: what each tool can notify you about

Both tools alert on a target price. Keepa’s FAQ says alerts fire “when something is back in stock or when a price has reached a certain threshold,” and its alert form takes a separate desired price for the Amazon offer, new offers and used offers.

Keepa sends alerts by email, Telegram, Web Push or its iOS and Android app, per the FAQ, and its store screenshots add an RSS feed. A “rearm timer”, 7 days by default according to the FAQ, decides when the same watch can fire again.

API users can receive the same notifications by webhook, per Keepa’s tracking docs. The notification object lists six causes: apart from a tracking expiring, each one is a desired price being met or a product going out of or back in stock.

camelcamelcamel keeps it to price drops. The Camelizer’s Chrome listing says you can “setup watches and get an email when the price drops,” and its Firefox listing, last updated in February 2023, also names Twitter and RSS feeds as channels.

💡 Expert Tip: If you are happy to buy from third-party sellers, set a Keepa watch on the New price as well as the Amazon price. Keepa tracks them as separate desired prices, so an Amazon-only watch can miss a cheaper new offer; check who sells and ships it before you buy.

Browser extensions: the Keepa Box vs The Camelizer

Keepa’s extension places its chart box below the product details on every Amazon product page, per Keepa’s FAQ. The Camelizer works on demand: you click the camel icon in the address bar to open the chart and set a watch.

Keepa’s Chrome extension lists 5,000,000 users and its Firefox add-on 270,637; both were updated on October 26, 2026. The Camelizer lists 800,000 Chrome users and 72,411 on Firefox, with last updates on June 7, 2024 and February 24, 2023.

Keepa also has an Edge extension, per its FAQ, and an Android app with 1M+ downloads on Google Play. camelcamelcamel’s listings mention no app.

The Camelizer asks for little: access to camelcamelcamel.com and eight Amazon sites, plus tab and storage permissions. Keepa’s listing says it uses cookies and network-request permissions to “reveal hidden MAPs and third-party merchant stock counts,” which is more access in exchange for more data.

Which Amazon sites each tool covers

Keepa’s FAQ lists 11 Amazon stores: the US, Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, Spain, Canada, Japan, India, Mexico and Brazil. The Camelizer’s permissions cover 8: the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Australia.

So Australian shoppers are better served by camelcamelcamel, and shoppers in Japan, India, Mexico or Brazil by Keepa. Neither tool’s own list includes Amazon in the Netherlands, Sweden, Poland, Turkey, the UAE, Saudi Arabia or Singapore.

Amazon now shows its own price history too: 30, 90 and 365 days for customers in the U.S., UK, Canada and India, according to About Amazon. For trackers beyond these two, see our camelcamelcamel alternatives guide.

Keepa vs camelcamelcamel accuracy

Keepa publishes its refresh rule: a product someone tracks “will be updated at least once every hour,” and most others “several times daily,” per its FAQ. It also advises checking “the price on Amazon before you actually finalize the purchase.”

camelcamelcamel does not publish a refresh rate on any page we could read. The bigger gap is what each chart counts: Keepa separates FBA, FBM, Warehouse and used conditions, while The Camelizer groups third-party offers into new and used.

Shipping is the other trap. Keepa’s own alert form notes that its New and Used watch prices are “shipping not included,” so a price alert can still cost more at checkout.

Is camelcamelcamel safe, and who owns it?

camelcamelcamel’s privacy policy says: “We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.” The Camelizer’s store privacy disclosure says it handles personally identifiable information and website content, and that this data is not sold to third parties outside approved uses.

Source: The Camelizer’s Chrome Web Store listing, Details section, November 4, 2026.

The Chrome Web Store lists the developer as 3CG CAMEL LLC at a Lewes, Delaware address, and the Firefox add-on is published as Cosmic Shovel. It is marked Non-trader, so for EU consumers “consumer rights do not apply to contracts between you and this developer.”

Keepa is a German company. Its listing names Keepa GmbH in Kemnath, declared as an EU trader, and its extension handles personally identifiable information but not website content.

For a paid plan, that trader status means EU consumer law applies to your contract, and Keepa’s terms state that Pro prices include VAT. On both tools, the real risk sits on Amazon: a price-drop alert can point to an offer from a seller you have never heard of.

Keepa or camelcamelcamel: which should you pick?

The Reddit threads that rank for this comparison come from book collectors and bargain hunters, not sellers. That matches the split below: most people asking want to know whether a sale is real, and a few want to know whether a product is worth reselling.

You are Pick Why
Shopper in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy or Spain checking a deal Either; camelcamelcamel if you want it simple Both are free; The Camelizer shows three price lines and emails you
Shopper on Amazon Australia camelcamelcamel Keepa’s FAQ does not list Australia
Shopper in Japan, India, Mexico or Brazil Keepa The Camelizer does not cover these sites
Book collector buying print editions Either; Keepa for more detail Keepa charts each used condition and Collectible separately
Online or retail arbitrage reseller Keepa Pro Sales rank, offer counts, Buy Box and stock history
Wholesale buyer Keepa Pro Product Finder, Seller Lookup, export, 10,000 tracked products
Private-label seller with live listings Keepa Pro for research, plus a listing monitor Neither tracker alerts on changes to your own listing

If you resell, our Amazon arbitrage guide explains how to read those charts before you buy stock. If Keepa itself is the problem, the Keepa alternatives page compares the tools that replace it.

🎯 Pro Insight: For arbitrage, the free tier of either tool cannot tell you whether a product sells. Sales rank and offer-count history, which show demand and how many sellers you would share it with, sit behind Keepa Pro; camelcamelcamel’s listings show neither.

For sellers: what neither tool watches on your own listings

Keepa and camelcamelcamel watch a product’s price for the person buying it. A seller’s problem is different: a new seller joining your listing, a competitor cutting the price, or the Buy Box moving away from you. Keepa Pro charts Buy Box history, but its alerts stay tied to price and stock thresholds.

SellerSonar is built for that side, and it is not a shopper price tracker. Its Buy Box and pricing alerts cover Seller appeared, Seller removed and Seller’s price changed on every plan, and Buy Box Won and Lost from Premium, matched to your Seller ID per marketplace.

Seller appeared alerts in SellerSonar on an amazon.com listing, October 27, 2026.

Checks run every 4 hours on Pro, every 2 hours on Premium and hourly on Business, across 23 Amazon marketplaces that include Australia, Japan, India and Turkey, with no Seller Central connection, per SellerSonar’s feature documentation. The Buy Box tracker shows who held the Buy Box and for how long.

According to SellerSonar’s plans page, Pro costs $19.98 a month billed yearly for 150 ASINs, and the free trial runs 14 days for 5 ASINs and 10 keywords. SellerSonar does no product research, sourcing or repricing, so resellers still need Keepa to judge what to buy; the Buy Box and pricing alerts are off by default and are switched on under Alerts, Delivery Settings.

📌 From Our Experience: Resellers who source with Keepa rarely drop it once they start selling. The two jobs answer different questions: Keepa tells you whether a product is worth buying, and a listing monitor tells you what changed after you listed it.

Final Expert Recommendations:
Use camelcamelcamel if you want a free chart and an email on Amazon in the US, Canada, Europe or Australia. Use Keepa if you shop in Japan, India, Mexico or Brazil, want more price lines, or source products to resell, and pay for Pro only when you need sales rank, offer and Buy Box history. If you sell on Amazon and need to know when someone joins your listing or takes the Buy Box, SellerSonar’s alerts cover that job.
